#1 Day 1 Term 1 2014 Every parent must send their kids to school. And for the entire year. Not sending your kids to school is abuse.
#2 State & Territory Governments need to enforce school attendance.
#3 State & Territory Governments should teach Indigenous languages, history and culture.
#4 State & Territory Governments should have mandatory diversionary programs for juvenile offenders into jobs & education.
#5 Stop the exaggeration. Australia does not practice nor live in an apartheid state.
#6 Stop treating Indigenous people like museum pieces. Culture is living & evolving. Otherwise culture dies.
#7 Exercise self-determination. Get educated. Get a job. Don't go on welfare. Send your kids to school.
#8 Close the gap between Indigenous & non-Indigenous life expectancy. Indigenous people should not smoke.
#9 Don't equate Indigenous with disadvantage. Traditional people were strong & contributed to the tribe. What are you contributing?
#10: Take adversity in your stride. There's never been a better time in Australia's history to be an Indigenous person.
#11: Do not commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women and children. No you can't turn a blind eye.
#12: If you want your culture & community to survive you need to have a real economy. Traditional lands should be open for business.
#13 Govern as Indigenous people look at themselves not as others have chosen to look at them. Indigenous governance should mirror nations
#14: Don't be defensive about funding - work with governments to implement real change. Don't fixate on programs. Focus on results
#15: Be pragmatic not ideological. Ask "what outcomes is this achieving?" "How have things improved because of this?"
#16: Stand up against "humbugging" in Indigenous communities. It's not cultural. It's extortion.
#17: Allow private home ownership on traditional lands. Indigenous people can live the Great Australian dream too.
#18: Don't be tied down by “how-we’ve-always-done-things” because how-we’ve–always-done-things hasn’t yet closed the gap.
#19: Don't tolerate a narrative that failure is cultural & achievement is white. Indigenous people can aspire, achieve, lead
#20: Indigenous people have the Prime Minister's ear and a seat at his table. Don't waste it or scoff at it.
